The Avignon-based association Adaikalam – in partnership with the Le Vox cinema – proposes to raise awareness of Indian cinema, which is not widely shown in France, with an initial series of 4 films between December 2025 and June 2026.

In a small village in Bengal, around 1910, Apu, a 7-year-old boy, lives in poverty with his family in their ancestral home. His father, lost in his literary ambitions, allows his family to sink deeper into destitution. Apu will then discover the world, with its sorrows and celebrations, its dramas and joys.

The Adaïkalam association has created and runs a home in Pondicherry, India, for about twenty orphaned girls. A portion of the evening's proceeds will be donated to them.
