Concert Caumont-sur-Durance Chœur Cantabile : En suivant l'étoile
Eglise Saint Symphorien Place de l'Eglise 84510 Caumont-sur-Durance
The Cantabile Choir invites you to be, with 8 professional musicians, the protagonists of a journey through Europe and the ages, with Palestrina's luminous Missa Papae Marcelli, the common thread on this path between faith and doubt, joy and anxiety.
A star appears in the sky. Those awaiting the Messiah recognize it as the miraculous sign of his birth and set out for the East. A joyous apparition for some, fear for others; while in the simplicity of the stable, Mary lovingly cradles her newborn, already aware of the power and tragedy of his destiny.
Our contemporary ears will travel to the roots of Occitan music with the Cantigas de Santa Maria on medieval instruments; will plunge into the Renaissance of Palestrina and Victoria; will sparkle with the French baroque of Charpentier; will be lulled by the romanticism of Brahms and the unsettling nanna of Merula; will rejoice in Christmas Carols; will follow the poetic introspection of Britten and Tavener.
