Chère Magdalena
Archipel Théâtre 25 bis rue des Remparts de l'Oulle 84000 Avignon
Anna Magdalena Bach's little book, between theater and music.
1725 – a lantern, a birdcage, yellow carnations, letters, a small music book – Jeanne Bernier, soprano, Kaori Yugami, harpsichordist and Jérôme Verghade, actor – reveal in small touches the daily life of Anna Magdalena Wilcke, an exceptional singer who renounces her career for love of the father of Western music, Johann Sebastian Bach.
Conceived as a reverie, this creation evokes the famous Little Book of Anna Magdalena Bach, which is celebrating its 300th anniversary and which every musician has leafed through, and questions us about the contemporaneity of a work that will forever be eternal.
