David and Jérémie Moreau have chosen for this concert and for their first album together to play 2 masterpieces of early Romanticism: the Sonata No. 5 in F major, known as “Spring” by Ludwig van Beethoven and the Grand Duo in A major by Franz Schubert.
Composed in 1801, the "Spring" Sonata (Op. 24) radiates a unique freshness and elegance. The violin sings with grace, supported by a piano that is by turns delicate and vibrant. Between luminous lyricism and passionate outbursts, Beethoven displays a writing of rare poetry, evoking the awakening of nature and the impulse of renewal.
In a similar vein, Schubert's Grand Duo (D. 574) reveals the full richness of chamber music dialogue. While the work might be compared to sonatinas, it distinguishes itself from them in its more personal and structured language. By turns tender, fiery, and profoundly lyrical, it testifies to Schubert's admiration for Beethoven while asserting a singular voice, imbued with melodic sweetness and harmonic depth.
The Moreau brothers will strive to translate their close musical relationship into a program where the dialogue between the two instruments is ever-present. A musical journey where virtuosity, sensitivity, and expressive intensity resonate brilliantly.
