Two programs in one evening, a double opportunity to marvel at the elegance, sensuality and virtuosity of the Alonzo King LINES Ballet company.
.
.
An admirer of Balanchine, nourished by cultural diversity, Alonzo King creates bridges between tradition and modernity and develops an inventive, sensual, vibrant dance, with dancers with impeccable classical technique.
“The Collective Agreement”: Originally commissioned by the San Francisco Ballet in 2018, the piece receives a new look thanks to Alonzo King’s reinterpretation and artist Jim Campbell’s innovative lighting installation. The intimacy of the duets and ensembles echoes the progressive rhythms of composer Jason Moran’s score.
“Ode to Alice Coltrane”: The piece pays tribute to the legendary spiritual leader, composer, pianist and harpist Alice Coltrane.
