Accrochage de saison – Madeleine Lemaire. Compositions florales à l’aquarelle

Musée Angladon 5 rue Laboureur 84000 Avignon

Exhibition

Madeleine Lemaire (1845-1928), French painter, pastelist, engraver and illustrator, debuted at the Salon of 1864. Her works, including portraits and floral compositions, are part of the collections of the Musée d'Orsay.

During the Belle Époque, the artist held a musical and literary salon where writers, musicians, actors and actresses gathered. Among others, Robert de Montesquiou and Marcel Proust mingled there.
Madeleine Lemaire illustrated Marcel Proust's collection Les Plaisirs et les Jours, published in 1896 by Calmann-Lévy, with her floral watercolors.
